Our town awoke to slightly aquatic weather this morning, with a hefty dose of rain delivered overnight. A very welcome downpour, with temperatures lurching from low 20's to low 40's in recent weeks and not much rain with it. Such conditions haven't much hampered our gardeners though, from the look of the bounty at the Produce Swap last Saturday. Even your humble author, who did nothing other than turn up truth be told, came away with rhubarb, basil and tomato plants, meeting some lovely folk in the process.
If you've a glut of home produce, bring it on down - swap or give away, up to you. If you don't actually produce terribly much, like ohh me, roll on down anyway, grab a coffee for a dollar (it is, after all, morning) and have a chat. I hope you'll be as delighted as I at the variety of foodstuffs being grown around town; perhaps as a reaction to the Great Zucchini Glut of 2014, perhaps not. Who can say.
And there's cake!
Kohlrabi. Who can have too much? Our little purple kohls are puffing up nicely and, with the recent soaking rain, should be nice and sweet and juicy. Or as juicy as kohlrabi gets. An info sheet is available for download in the Library, along with those for other vegies. It will take a little while (as we have to make them first!), but there will be quite a range as our Library fills up.
